Project Proposal

You will propose a math project instead of doing a QQC. This proposal could be an investigation of a math topic you are curious about, applying what we have learned in the classroom to a real world problem (problem needs approval), or applying mathematics to your passions (i.e. music, physics, hairstyling?)

Question: How did the number one become such a big deal? Why does the number one have so many negative connotations? Why does the number one have a big significticance?

Comment: It is amazing that people over analyze a number and connect it other subjects like religion, eastern culture, western culture, superstitions, and money. Now I wonder why they put the number one first on the counting numbers. Is it because of its root name or the creator of numbers just wanted to put it that way.

Quote: "In fact, Pythagoras made one of the first mathematical studies of music, discovering that when the lengths of several vibrating string form ratios of whole numbers to each other, creating harmonious tones."

Question: Did Pythagoras play an instrument? Was this the only musical discovery Pythagoras made? Did other mathetications make futher musically discoveries regard the use of factions in music?

Comment: I think it is really cool that a mathetication was able to find connections of math in music and was able to incorporate fractions and ratios to futher understand the use of music.

Question: Did his knowledge of physics help him advance through discoverys or hinder him sometimes"
Comment: I think it was interesting that he integrated his love of physics into every subject he encountered with. And he brought new integrations of prime numbers into the math we use today.

Question: Who was the first person to use this new system of communacation?
If it was a new form of communication how would people learn and use it?


Comment: I think it is interesting that the people struggled to figure out the differance between six apples and eight apples and that it took them some time to develop the universal language that eventually everyone would understand.
