Mental Math
This reading was interesting because some of the math tricks I do already, such as the adding from left to right instead of the way I was thought in third grade doing it from right to left, and adding three digit numbers. For sure I'm going to take these math tricks with me to college. I save that pdf file to my computer for future references.

Daniel Pink on mastery
Quote: "Mastery is a mindset", Incremental Theorist (You want to get stronger start pumping iron), Entity Theorist (You want to get taller, You're out of luck), Performance Goals (Getting an A in French), Learning Goals (Being able to speak French), "This is the nature of Mastery, Mastery is an Asymptote", "Being a professional is doing the things you love to do, on the days you don't feel like doing them",
Comment:
Reading this makes me wonder if I am an Incremental or Entity theorist. I believe that in school I become an Entity theorist, I usually want to shoot for a high grade and I set performance goals. But I know that those habits should change quickly mainly because of the major and the career I want to purse. I plan on majoring in nursing and that'll require a lot of patience and stay on track long term for the goal I am trying to achieve.
I like the quote "Mastery is an Asymptote", When I used to play basketball I'd always try to mastery every skill needed to a great basketball player. Whenever I think that I had a flawless season, I would always try hard and push for mastery. And sometimes I would get frustrated on certain games because I feel that I haven't worked hard enough, and It made me wonder why am I pushing myself this far, even if I can't reach perfection. Which brings me to this inspirational Dr. J quote"Being a professional is doing the things you love to do, on the days you don't feel like doing them".

QQC 50 Life Secrets and Tips
Quote: Get fit!, Travel, Choose your friends wisely, Learn to focus only on the present. Smile more often.
Comment: I like these tips because all of them will certainly have a positive effect on your life. Get fit would be important to keep your health and look good. The friends in your life definitely will have an impact in your life, influencing your ideas and actions. So it would be important to establish a good set of friends that will always swing you the right way.

Project Proposal
You will propose a math project instead of doing a QQC. This proposal could be an investigation of a math topic you are curious about, applying what we have learned in the classroom to a real world problem (problem needs approval), or applying mathematics to your passions (i.e. music, physics, hairstyling?)

The book of numbers chapter 1 QQC
Quote: "And of course, number one is often used to mean "the best." ln China, Feng Shui can be
improved with the right numbers. The number one is the first of the yang numbers and is
strongly linked to growth and prosperity. But in the West, strangely, we don't always use
the word "one" in this way. For example, when talking about playing cards, the one of hearts
is always called the ace of hearts. lt is thought that the word ace actually derives from Roman
money, for the lowest value Roman coin was called an "as" and also meant "a whole" or "one unit."
Question: How did the number one become such a big deal? Why does the number one have so many negative connotations? Why does the number one have a big significticance?
Comment: It is amazing that people over analyze a number and connect it other subjects like religion, eastern culture, western culture, superstitions, and money. Now I wonder why they put the number one first on the counting numbers. Is it because of its root name or the creator of numbers just wanted to put it that way.

The book of numbers chapter 0.000000001
Quote: "In fact, Pythagoras made one of the first mathematical studies of music, discovering that when the lengths of several vibrating string form ratios of whole numbers to each other, creating harmonious tones."
Question: Did Pythagoras play an instrument? Was this the only musical discovery Pythagoras made? Did other mathetications make futher musically discoveries regard the use of factions in music?
Comment: I think it is really cool that a mathetication was able to find connections of math in music and was able to incorporate fractions and ratios to futher understand the use of music.

Gauss
Quote: " Gauss was increasingly occupied with physics and he enbranched every branch with of the subject he touched"
Question: Did his knowledge of physics help him advance through discoverys or hinder him sometimes"
Comment: I think it was interesting that he integrated his love of physics into every subject he encountered with. And he brought new integrations of prime numbers into the math we use today.

The book of numbers reading chapter 0
Quote:
"Many thousands of years ago, when people
didn't speak many words, before writing was
invented, before there was money, before there
were even words to describe numbers, people
knew numbers. Although we had no names for
them, we used them."
Question: Who was the first person to use this new system of communacation?
If it was a new form of communication how would people learn and use it?
Comment: I think it is interesting that the people struggled to figure out the differance between six apples and eight apples and that it took them some time to develop the universal language that eventually everyone would understand.
